Is Howth the most attractive coastal resort near Dublin?
I am looking for romantic/typically Irish accomodation for a week or so in August, next to the city of my dreams, possibly in a country cottage B&B. Thanks for your help.
If the country cottage B+B is big on the agenda, Skerries is your destination. It has train and bus connections with Howth. Howth is by no stretch of the imagination in the country although it is a beautiful place. Because DublinBus has a very large network some of which go VERY deep into the country look them up. Dublin is actually very small by world city standards, and easy to get around by public transport or bicycle. Don't even THINK of driving in Dublin. Only the locals can do it and is is a permanent jam but the metro lines called "LUAS" and many buses get their own lanes. I would actually recommend you look to stay near Dundrum on the South side and on one of the LUAS lines. Its only twenty mimutes from the city centre and on high ground overlooking the city
If you intend to take a trip down to England then Cornwall simply has to be your destination. Located on the English coast, Cornwall is famed for its many attractive features. Alternatively, you can choose to visit Lanhydrock House or the Pendennis Castle, both historical sites of stunning proportions which are still well maintained.
Many families enjoy the day with their children at fun places like the Dairyland, Farm World or the Adventure Park. For the lovers of nature, the obvious beauty of Cornwall can be experienced even more by visiting its famed gardens including the very popular Eden Project.
Perhaps one of the greatest lures of Cornwall is its location near water. More than 80% of Cornwall is found to be surrounded by water. Consequently there are over 300 possible beaches which you can visit. Take off your shoes and enjoy a walk on the sands of the beaches or grab a surf board and dive into the waves. The coastal areas of Cornwall are filled with many activities for tourists. You can choose to scuba dive with friends or just enjoy the vista of the beach in a hammock. The possibilities are simply endless.
Best of all, once you are done with your day, you are guaranteed the comforts of a warm bed in your luxurious self catering accommodation with the lovely vista of the fading sun framed in your bedroom window.
