Large Oak

We have huge oak trees in our yard. One has a yellowish, large growth on its trunk. Anyone know what it is?

The growth on the tree is about a foot long and 4-5 inches wide and there are smaller ones near it. This is the only tree in our yard that has this growth. I don't know what it is or if it is dangerous to the tree. If so, can it be treated, and how? The trees are quite old. Help!
